Winthrop Camping / Fishing Trip Saturday / Sunday Aug 8 & 9.
Corinne and I are thinking of camping and fishing near Winthrop next weekend (Friday 8th and Saturday 9th come back Sunday afternoon evening). If anyone would like to join us, we’d enjoy the company and the following are our plans and how this could work.
We’ll probably leave after work on Friday and camp Friday and Saturday nights at Big Twin Campground on Big Twin Lake (approx 2 mi. outside of Winthrop. We camp with a small tent trailer and are pretty well outfitted with cooking gear and an outside propane stove and barbeque. Big Twin is a private campground, open and grassy and a good place for tents and kids and has hot water shower facilities. I don’t know what other families camping rigs consist of so we will plan to get a site with electricity and water and can be a kind of camp kitchen and central spot to hang out and keep a fire going if that simplifies things. There’s lots of interesting things to do around Winthrop so this could be a fun camping trip for family and kids with some good quick fishing possibilities to mix in. The fishing options are; Big Twin Lake (at the campground, a quality water catch and release lake), the Methow River and Davis and Campbell Lakes both small lakes about 4 mi outside of Winthrop. All are excellent fly fishing water. I talked to the campground this morning and they have nothing special going on this weekend so there should be lots of good spaces available. If you’re interested let me know and I can give you contact information for the campground.

Welcome to the His Place Community Church Fly Fishing Interest Group.
My initial thoughts for the group are that this can be an opportunity to make connections between men and women of the church who share an interest in fly fishing and associated activities. I see this blog as a sort of continuously updated bulletin board that could be a place to find others to share information and ideas with, or to let others know about a trip you might be interested in making.
Biographies: I'd like to ask anyone with an interest in the group to send me a brief bio containing: Name: Phone No. & Email Address, The kind of fishing you enjoy doing, How long you've been fishing, Any associated interests like fly tying or rod building etc.
Trips: (For example) If you fished a certain lake in August each year and wouldn't mind a little company, you could email me a brief "what, where & when" type description and I'll put it up on the blog. If I thought you're trip sounded interesting, I might contact you (phone or email) to get your take on what type of gear would be appropriate, and / or to get directions or make arrangements to share a ride.
Connection: New to the sport? An old hand, been doing it all your life? I hope this could be an opportunity to encourage someone who's been thinking about fly fishing to find some mentors to help develop the skills to have some success and fun.
Bragging Rites: Had a great trip? Got a few photos? Send em in to me and I'll post them along with what ever descriptions you have.

Primarily like to float tube fish eastern Washington quality lakes and fish the skagit for Pinks when they're in.
I've tied flies, but not in a while now.

Fly fishing was one of the first family dates I went on with Steve. Imagine my surprise when I was looking for the coffee can of worms while his family was climbing into their waders, stringing up reels and tying these neat looking thingamajigs on the end of their lines. It didn't take long before I was hooked (pardon the pun). Catching fish is secondary (as most fly fishermen on a bad streak will tell you . . mine's lasted 20+ years), but I love being out there, watching the bugs and the birds and the thrill when the rod comes alive. Mostly lake fishing, and bringing s'more fixings if we're camping. It would be nice to have other ladies come along!

I love fly fishing and have been doing it on and off for about 13 years but have pretty much remained a novice. My experience consists mostly of trout fishing in local lakes and streams using woolly buggers or mudlers. I have two rods and a float tube. I'd like to broaden my knowledge and skills and would definitely be up for a steelhead trip if that sounded good to everyone else.

I have been attending His Place for about 5 years and fly fishing for about a year. I have been fishing the Skagit, Sauk, and Stillaguamish rivers and not catching fish but having a great time learing and just being in the water. I have mainly been fishing streamers and nymphs for steelhead but recently got to fish the McKenzie River in Oregon with some friends and fished my first hatch. I also recently started tying flies. I would love to meet anyone else from the church to fish with and learn from.
